Taxes

The main taxes in the Republic of Kazakhstan are: taxation of individuals, income tax, value added tax, income tax at the source of payment, real estate tax, land tax, social contributions.

Taxation of individuals
Tax residents of Kazakhstan are taxed on their worldwide income, and tax non-residents are taxed only on their income received from sources in Kazakhstan.
The personal income tax rate of 10% (in some cases 20%) applies to most types of personal income, but the rate of 5% applies only to dividends received in Kazakhstan.

Income tax
The corporate income tax rate is 20% and is calculated for a calendar year.
A reduced income tax rate of 6% is applied to qualified agricultural income of legal entities producing agricultural products.
There are also other benefits.

Value added tax
The current VAT rate is 12%. This tax applies to goods, work and services, as well as to imports. Exports of goods and international transport services are taxed at a rate of 0%. There is a list of goods, works and services exempt from VAT.

Income tax at the source of payment
Non-residents' income from the provision of services in Kazakhstan is taxed at a rate of 20%. The tax can either be withheld or reduced if a number of conditions are met.

Real estate tax
Property tax is calculated annually at a total rate of 1.5% of the average residual value of real estate.

Land tax
Legal entities and individuals owning land plots are required to pay land tax annually. Rates vary depending on the purpose of use, as well as the size and quality of the land.

Social contributions
Social tax
Employers must pay a social tax of 9.5% of the remuneration of all employees.
Mandatory social insurance contributions
Mandatory social insurance contributions are paid by employers at a rate of 3.5% to the State Pension Center.
Mandatory pension contributions
Mandatory pension contributions are withheld in the amount of 10% of employees' income and transferred to the State Pension Center.


Education

In the Republic of Kazakhstan, the education system consists of 4 main stages: preschool, primary, secondary and higher education. There are both public and private institutions. In addition, schools differ in the language of instruction, there are Kazakh, Russian, Uzbek, Uighur, Tajik and English.

Preschool education
Preschool education is divided into two stages: kindergartens and preschool training. Children from 1 to 6 years old go to kindergartens. And preschool training is attended from 4 to 6 years.

Primary education
Primary education is provided to children from 6 to 10 years old. Children are admitted to the first grade from 6-7 years old. Compulsory academic subjects are mainly native language and mathematics.

Secondary education
Secondary education in Kazakhstan has 2 stages. Secondary complete education and secondary vocational education.
Children from 10 to 18 years of age receive a full secondary education. After graduation, a certificate of secondary education is issued.
There are about 7,6 thousand schools in the Republic.
After the 9th or 11th grade, a student can go to receive secondary vocational education. The training lasts from 3 to 4 years.

Higher education
Higher education in Kazakhstan can be obtained after achieving basic general secondary education or secondary vocational education. To enter the university, school graduates take school final exams, as well as entrance exams in the form of a Unified National Testing (UNT).
The second higher education in Kazakhstan is obtained only on a paid basis with an accelerated period of study (2-3 years).
There are 129 higher educational institutions operating in the Republic of Kazakhstan, of which 33 are state-owned, 92 are private universities and 4 with foreign ownership.

Healthcare

State regulation in the field of healthcare in the Republic of Kazakhstan falls within the competence of the Ministry of Health.

Primary health care
Primary care is provided by general practitioners (family doctors), district therapists, pediatricians, paramedics, obstetricians, nurses of extended practice (general practice), district nurses, social workers, psychologists.
Primary care includes the following medical services:
- reception and examination by a doctor or nurse of primary health care
- emergency care
- basic laboratory and instrumental diagnostics
- training in the prevention and management of chronic diseases
- family planning and school of preparation for childbirth
- medical rehabilitation of 3 stages
These services are mainly aimed at prevention and assistance in the most common, chronic and socially significant diseases.

Specialized outpatient care
The range of free services at the outpatient level is quite wide and consists of packages of guaranteed free medical care and compulsory social health insurance. To get the latter, you need to be insured.
Citizens who regularly pay contributions to the MSHI and have the status of "INSURED" can receive a wider list of medical services without paying them additionally.
The list of compulsory social health insurance includes:
1. Outpatient medical care (diagnosis and treatment of diseases).
- preventive medical examinations
- reception and consultations by specialized specialists in the direction of PHC doctors
- dynamic monitoring by specialized specialists of persons with chronic diseases
- provision of dental care
- diagnostic services

4. Pathoanatomic diagnostics.
5. Preparation of a posthumous donor.

Climate

The Republic of Kazakhstan is located in the center of Eurasia. The area of the state is 2.7 million km2. The capital Astana is located in the northern part of the country. Kazakhstan is washed by the Aral Sea in the south and the Caspian Sea in the southwest. Lake Balkhash is located in Kazakhstan, with an area of 16.4 thousand km2.

Half of the territory of the republic belongs to deserts, semi-deserts. In the north there are forest-steppes and steppes. In the center of the country there is a steppe with steep low mountains. The country has a well-developed network of natural reservoirs. Rivers belong to the basins of the surrounding seas. The state is also rich in flora and fauna.

The climate in Kazakhstan is sharply continental with an average temperature between -4 C and - 19C in January and between +19 and +26 C in July. In winter, the temperature can drop to - 45 C, and in summer it can rise to +30 C.
The cold winter begins in November and lasts until April. The influence of Arctic air masses leads to severe (up to -50 C) frosts.
Spring lasts from mid-April to the end of May. The weather is quite unstable, there may be both a warm day and windy weather with a cold snap.
Dry hot summer begins at the end of May and lasts until mid-September. The temperature can reach +40 C.
Autumn, with even weather and night frosts, begins at the end of September and lasts until the beginning of November.

The relative humidity of the air is low.
The average annual precipitation does not exceed 500 mm . In spring and summer, the rainy season begins, and after that comes a period of drought.
From April to June and from September to November is the peak of the tourist season in Kazakhstan.
